Smaller Government–No more TARP, bailouts, earmarks, pay backs to special interest groups and non-stimulus spending. Cut government. spending across the board except for national defense. Our deficit this year alone is 1.4 trillion and our future debt exceeds 12 trillion. Our government is spending at the rate of $53000 a second and the interest alone is 1 billion dollars a day. We cannot spend, tax, and borrow our way back into prosperity. I would vote for government spending cuts across the board, and dismantling what's left of the current "nonstimulus" bill.
Instead of increasing the number of government agencies by 153 as does the new healthcare legislation, the federal governemnt needs to decrease the number of ineffective government agencies that are costing the taxpayer and doing their part to stifle the American economy. Many of the functions of these agencies are better served at the state level. Add to this fact that tripling the size of governemnt breeds corruption just by it's sheer size and oversight becomes very difficult.
Reduce taxes–Cut taxes to restore resources and capital to small businessess, the revenue producers and job creators. This is the only way to sustain a growing economy and create jobs. Government stimulus has never worked and it won’t work now. Cut the corporate income tax to keep businesses in America! Cut the capital gains tax so that businesses will invest in America! Cut income taxes so that resources are restored to the actual revenue producers that create jobs so that millions of American's can go back to work and be eligible for employer provided benefits!
Preserve free market healthcare--This administration's agenda is to CONTROL IT, REGULATE IT, RATION IT, and TAX IT.
- Create jobs to insure more families
- Reform the medical malpractice laws
- Offer tax deductions on higher deductibles (reduces premiums)
- Offer tax credits for catastrohic illnesses and injuries
- Build free market healthcare alliances for small businesses and individuals that can cross state lines
- Incentivize healthy lifestyles with premium reduction rewards
- No government funded abortions or taxpayer financed insurance policies for illegals
Energy independence--Cap and tax is a job killing, business destroying, and rate increasing piece of legislation. The averagae American Home utility costs will increase by an estimated $1700 per family if this legislation passes. It has already passed in the house thanks to John Yarmuth that voted for it. It is also estimated that 20,000 jobs will be lost in Kentucky alone if this bill passes.I would support encouraging all other industrialized countries like China and India, to implement the pollution control technology already being used in the United States. We do not need to damage the American economy even furthur. America needs to develop our own resources of oil, coal, natural gas and alternatives energy sources. We should DO IT ALL for our future economic prosperity, our national security, and for an energy independence in America.
Housing–This economic debacle started with housing. We have to have substantial tax credits for new AND existing home buyers. This will secure main street America’s most important investment,-- their home. Housing over the past decade was 15% of the American GDP. Home foreclosures were escalated by four dollar a gallon gasoline, and a slowdown in the economy, They were initiated by liberal special interests groups that lobbied congress to pressure banks to give out loans to low income, no income, high risk borrowers, backed up by the government owned banks, Fannie and Freddie. It was the liberal mentality that everyone had "the right to own a home." This mentality almost toppled the banks.
Illegal Immigration-- Secure the borders with the national guard, stopping the flow of illegals, drugs, weapons and cash.
National defense--, Fully funding a strong American military deterrent against North Korea, Iran, and other potential terrorist countries. No pandering to terrorist dictators. We must maintain America's commitment to defend the state of Israel.
Second Amendment-The rights of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon.
Open Government --Pure bills that can actually be read, with no unrelated amendments, and no earmarks. Stand alone legislation will reduce irresponsible government spending by eliminating paybacks to special interest groups. Stand alone legislation will increase transparency by not allowing unrelated ammendments to be stuck in, snuck in, and hidden in the back of a bill.
Bridges Project: Our priorities should be to build an east end bridge when federal, state and local leaders can present an economically feasible plan that does not add to unsustainable budget deficits.
Term limits–My term limit pledge is to serve no longer than 4 terms.
Education-Promote charter schools--Charter schools provide an alternative to, and competition for, public schools that don't perform.
